Chief Steve Rudek
grew up in the Brainerd area and after graduating from the Brainerd High School he entered the U.S. Air Force. After serving a term in Southeast Asia Steve returned and graduated from Central Lakes College. He began his career in Law Enforcement working for the Nisswa Police Department and Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department. Steve joined the Breezy Point Police Department in September of 1979 and has served as the chief since 1990. He and his wife of 28 years have two children. |

Sergeant Kevin Merschman
is a native of Bagley, MN and started with the Breezy Point Police Department in 1991. Prior to that the Pine River Police Department employed him. He is a member of the Minnesota Sex Crimes Investigators Association (MNSCIA) and an Emergency Medical Technician. Sergeant Merschman has also been the department's K-9 handler since 1999. Sergeant Merschman is an outdoor enthusiast and former Chairman of the North Crow Wing chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He has volunteered with many local charities including serving with his family in the Crow Wing Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol
K-9 Babe
K-9 Babe was born in the spring of 1998. She is a Golden Lab that is certified in narcotics detection and can be utilized for tracking. She enjoys "tug-of-war" and "keep away" and can often be seen at the police department holding her stuffed animal. She likes to be petted and is exceptionally fond of a tummy scratch.

Patrolman Brian Sandell
graduated from Alexandria Technical College in 1994 and began his career with the Pine River Police Department in March 1995. He also worked part-time for the Akeley Police Department before accepting a position with the Pequot Lakes Police Department in 1997. He came to the Breezy Point Police Department in May 1998 and currently is a certified firearms instructor and responsible for the department’s firearms training. |

Patrolman Joe Garcia
Originally from Michigan, Officer Garcia moved to Minnesota after his four year enlistment in the United States Air Force. He has experience in many aspects of emergency service, including fire protection, emergency medicine and law enforcement. Officer Garcia is one of the department's two paramedics, who are capable of delivering advanced emergency medical care, prior to the arrival of the ambulance. He is also one of two officers assigned to patrol Pelican Township. Prior to joining the Breezy Point Police Department, Officer Garcia served the Brainerd Area as a paramedic with North Ambulance, and as a police officer with the Crosslake Police Department.

| Currently, he is a member of the Minnesota State Association of Narcotics Investigators, and serves as the department's liaison with the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division. When he's not on duty, Officer Garcia volunteers as a diver for the Crow Wing County Dive Rescue Team and as a member of the North Crow Wing First Responders. |

Patrolman Dan Sathre
has been working for Breezy Point since 2002. Before joining the Breezy Point Police Department he worked for the cities of Silver Bay and Lakeshore. Dan is also certified as a paramedic. He is a graduate of Central Lakes College in Brainerd and has completed course offerings from Bemidji State University and the College of St. Scholastica. In his spare time Dan enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and winter camping. |

Patrolman Elisha Dwyer
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA he was raised in the Brainerd lakes area. Elisha started his career with the Breezy Point Police Department in 2006 and is the newest addition to department. Elisha graduated from Saint Leo University in 2005 with a BA in Criminology
Patrolman Curt Cogan
has been a part-time officer with Breezy Point since 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and an AAS degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Minnesota Conservation Officer Academy and many in-service training courses. He is employed full-time by the Minnesota DNR Forestry division since 1978 and currently serves as the statewide Forestry Enforcement Coordinator. Past DNR positions include district forester, fire/recreation/forest development program forester, private lands forester and assistant enforcement coordinator. Currently he serves as the statewide coordinator of the Wildfire Investigation Teams and is a certified wildfire investigator. He has served in the past as the Security Manager on the Eastern Area Type I Incident Management Team and is nationally certified for this and several other large incident emergency positions. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and serves on he Minnesota Chapters’ Arson Reward Committee. He is happily married with four children and a resident of the lakes area since 1983. |
